Colorful Record Shelf Makeover

Vinyl Storage

Rob was so excited to move into our new (bigger) house, because he finally has room to store all of his vinyl! At our tiny old house, he had to keep all of his records in the garage. Definitely not ideal. The shelf that he uses to store all of his records was pretty beat up, so he gave it to me to pretty up this weekend!

The weather was absolutely gorgeous, so I was able to hang out on the front porch and work on it all afternoon.

As you can see, it was pretty dingy and banged up. Continue reading

5 Nights of Delicious Vegetarian Meals

5 Nights of Delicious Vegetarian Meals: Week 1

5 Nights of Delicious Vegetarian Meals

I always plan our dinners for the week before going grocery shopping. I’ve found that this saves us money and helps me be more organized throughout the week instead of trying to throw something together for dinner at the last minute. I usually make 5 full-on dinners and we eat leftovers on the other two nights.

I’m not a vegetarian (can’t give up burgers, sorry not sorry), but Rob and Clare are, so the meals I make are always vegetarian. I also do my best to make sure we’re getting plenty of variety and lots of veggies.

Here’s what we’re eating this week:

We made this tonight and it was delicious! I used Morning Star meatballs. Continue reading

Farm Fresh Friday: Week One

I’ve decided that every Friday I will write about the highlights and important events of the week. This was our first week on the job, so I have a lot to share!

A highlight for me this week was discovering that I can bring Clare to work with me! I wasn’t sure how much I was going to be able to contribute to the farm, but it looks like I will be able to work at least for half the day everyday. Clare has been so patient and seems to be really interested in everything that we’re doing on the farm. She gets bored occasionally, but I just make sure to pack a little bag with snacks and activities. Her favorite thing is splashing around in the troughs in the greenhouse. Everything is a sensory table on a farm! And after next week, the other little girl that lives on the farm will be back from vacation and Clare will have a playmate. They got along great when we came to visit last month.

We feel lucky to be able to share moments like this with Clare during the work day:

Moving Update & Clare’s New Farmhouse Room

We’ve been so busy I don’t even know where to begin! This is the first time I’ve had a chance to sit down with my laptop in almost a week. Moving went great! We’re starting to get settled in and unpacked. We also had our first day of work today. I was able to seed lettuce plants for a solid four hours while Clare went back and forth between Rob and I. I feel very lucky to have such an easygoing little girl because I’ll probably be able to bring her to work with me most days! Most moms know how hard it is to balance work and parenting, so the rarity of that opportunity is not lost on me. I feel very grateful.

I think the move was a little bit confusing and stressful for Clare, so my first priority upon moving into the house was to get her room completely set up so that she would have a little place where she feels safe and secure. Her little room was sort of unfinished when we moved in, with untreated wood paneling on the walls and cut carpet laying on the floor. The first thing on the list was Continue reading

Creamy, Gluten-Free Spinach Rotini

This might be my only post this week. We have so much to do before we move to the farm on Friday. We are very lucky, though, because Rob’s dad flew in tonight to help us out! He and Shannon, Rob’s sister, are both going to road trip with us down to the farm. We are so grateful for their help.

Creamy, Gluten-Free Spinach Rotini

I made this yummy dinner last week. I’ve been trying to use up all the food in the house, and last week we happened to have a bunch of spinach, ricotta cheese, and pasta. Ta-dah! A yummy, creamy pasta dish.

First I assembled my ingredients: a box of rotini Continue reading

15 Minute Dollar Store Mirror Makeover

15 Minute Dollar Store Mirror Makeover

It’s officially 6 days until we move to the farm! I’ve been packing, packing, packing all week and there’s still so much to do, but when I saw this sad little dollar store mirror that I bought long, long ago, inspiration struck and I decided to give it a makeover! It was the perfect break from the stress of moving.

Even though pretty much everything is in boxes, I made sure that my crafts stuff is accessible. (You never know when inspiration might strike. Example: Continue reading
