For the past year, Rob has had the great pleasure of working for Odell Brewing Co., the best brewery in the entire world. Their IPA, (called simply, IPA) puts other India Pale Ales to shame. Their Scottish Ale, 90 Shilling, is one of my go-to beers. So flavorful, yet so smooth. And my favorite: Friek, a cherry sour beer with a crisp, refreshing taste that I absolutely crave. They only brew it in limited quantities, so when Rob brings home a bottle, it’s like liquid gold around here.
The brewery has been so good to Rob, offering him some really awesome perks that we’re going to miss a lot when we move to the farm. I mean, I’m really excited that we’re going to have access to fresh organic veggies, but I also really enjoyed the three 6-packs Rob brought home from the brewery for free every week.
What I’m going to miss the most is hanging out in the tasting room. Over the last year, it’s become the perfect meeting place for us. It’s family friendly with a great patio, there are always delicious food trucks parked outside, and it’s biking distance from our house. We’ve spent so many afternoons sharing beers with friends and chatting about life.
Last October, Odell premiered their brand new brewhouse and expanded tasting room. The whole expansion and renovation is absolutely gorgeous. Britt, being pregnant and all, hadn’t been to the brewery to see the expansion yet, so Rob showed us around today. (I love having a personal tour guide.)
How gorgeous is this space!?! It’s even prettier in the daytime, with the big windows overlooking the picture-perfect patio.
Today I enjoyed Odell’s coffee Russian Imperial Stout, Mutual Respect. I’m not usually a fan of Russian Imperial Stouts, but the coffee flavor in this one was so delicious.
It started to storm while we were checking out the brewhouse. We got a great view of the pouring rain from the huge windows.
After touring the new brewhouse, Rob took us through the warehouse.
This is where he works: the bottling line! I love that Clare can come see where her Daddy works. We’re going to be taking that to a whole new level on the farm!
Man, I love this brewery. It will be one of the things we’ll miss the most about Fort Collins. It’s such a fantastic part of the community here.
