Colorful Record Shelf Makeover

Vinyl Storage

Rob was so excited to move into our new (bigger) house, because he finally has room to store all of his vinyl! At our tiny old house, he had to keep all of his records in the garage. Definitely not ideal. The shelf that he uses to store all of his records was pretty beat up, so he gave it to me to pretty up this weekend!

The weather was absolutely gorgeous, so I was able to hang out on the front porch and work on it all afternoon.

As you can see, it was pretty dingy and banged up. Continue reading

Moving Update & Clare’s New Farmhouse Room

We’ve been so busy I don’t even know where to begin! This is the first time I’ve had a chance to sit down with my laptop in almost a week. Moving went great! We’re starting to get settled in and unpacked. We also had our first day of work today. I was able to seed lettuce plants for a solid four hours while Clare went back and forth between Rob and I. I feel very lucky to have such an easygoing little girl because I’ll probably be able to bring her to work with me most days! Most moms know how hard it is to balance work and parenting, so the rarity of that opportunity is not lost on me. I feel very grateful.

Sunny Window Seat

I think the move was a little bit confusing and stressful for Clare, so my first priority upon moving into the house was to get her room completely set up so that she would have a little place where she feels safe and secure. Her little room was sort of unfinished when we moved in, with untreated wood paneling on the walls and cut carpet laying on the floor. The first thing on the list was Continue reading

15 Minute Dollar Store Mirror Makeover

15 Minute Dollar Store Mirror Makeover

It’s officially 6 days until we move to the farm! I’ve been packing, packing, packing all week and there’s still so much to do, but when I saw this sad little dollar store mirror that I bought long, long ago, inspiration struck and I decided to give it a makeover! It was the perfect break from the stress of moving.

Even though pretty much everything is in boxes, I made sure that my crafts stuff is accessible. (You never know when inspiration might strike. Example: Continue reading

Pinterest Roundup: 5 Pretty Window Seats

Moving is super stressful (you do not want to see my house right now), but my favorite part is getting to the new place and making it a home. Right now, I’m getting really excited about getting Clare’s room set up and pretty. Her room in the cabin is unfinished right now, so I’ll  have a blank slate to work with. My favorite feature of her new sunny little room is the built in chest right under a window that I plan to transform into a girly, cozy window seat. What little girl doesn’t want a window seat? I always did as a kid. What a perfect place to sit and read a book or daydream!

Here’s some of the inspiration I’ve been finding on Pinterest:

1. I love the mix of prints in a pretty pink and purple palette in this gorgeous room.

Clare’s Fox-y Big Girl Bed: Making the Transition from Crib to Toddler Bed

Transitioning from Crib to Toddler Bed - Farm Fresh Family

I’ve been feeling lately that Clare was ready to make the transition from crib to toddler bed. She hasn’t been trying to climb out of her crib or anything, but we’ve been talking a lot about “big girl” things like going to the potty and cleaning up after ourselves, and this seemed like the next step.

Here are some of the things we did to help prepare her for the transition: Continue reading

Valentine’s Day Sensory Bins and Crafts for Preschool

Valentines Day Sensory Bins and Crafts for Preschool - Farm Fresh Family

It’s my last week at the early childhood center where I work. I’ll be happy to be finished and have time to pack and prepare for our move to the farm, but man, will I miss those kids. I just love working with preschool aged kids. They are so enthusiastic, creative, and hilarious. I’ve been trying to have as much fun as possible with them before I have to leave.

We’re still going strong this week Continue reading
